This recipe is perfect for those who love the spicy kick of buffalo sauce and the savory flavor of chicken. The combination of crispy flatbread and creamy ranch dressing creates a satisfying and satisfyingly tasty treat that is easy to make at home.

It's also a great choice for a party or a quick and easy dinner on a busy weeknight. Whether you're hosting a game day party or looking for a delicious and satisfying meal, this buffalo chicken flatbread pizza is sure to be a hit with everyone.

Two buffalo chicken flatbread pizzas, a bowl of buffalo sauce, and a spoon coated in ranch dressing

I love pizza - in fact, I regularly make my own deep-dish pizza - but I enjoy this because it's pizza, but not pizza, at the same time! We love wings in our house too, and often make them in the air fryer when watching football and hockey games, but they can be a pain to fry and there's always a lot of cleanup.

This recipe gets you all the flavors of hot wings, in a nice hand-held format with very little cleanup. In my book, that's a win-win.

    🥘 Ingredients

Think of chicken wings, and you can probably guess everything that goes into this recipe.

Ingredients to make Buffalo chicken flatbread, arranged on counter
    • chicken
    • Buffalo wing sauce
    • naan bread
    • Colby Jack cheese
    • ranch dressing
    • green onions

    That's everything! Pretty simple, right?

In this recipe we're using chicken that's already been cooked and diced. That's something I like to do regularly on Sunday, so we have it for recipes throughout the week. It's also easy to add to salads. Here's the recipe I use for perfect cooked chicken breasts.

    🔪 Instructions

Making these flatbread pizzas is more assembly than anything else. Watch how simple the process is:

Diced chicken tossed in Buffalo Sauce

Step 1 - Toss diced chicken in Buffalo wing sauce to coat.

Flat bread sprinkled with Colby Jack cheese

Step 2 - Place flat bread on baking sheet and top with shredded cheese.

Buffalo-coated chicken placed on top of flatbread and cheese, just before baking

Step 3 - Add Buffalo-coated chicken on top, then bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes.

After baking, pizza with green onions and drizzled with more Buffalo sauce and ranch dressing

Step 4 - Top with green onions remaining buffalo sauce and ranch dressing.

This buffalo chicken flatbread pizza combines all the wing flavors you love, but in a hand-held format that's much less messy!

    Substitutions

Feel free to play around with substitutions on this dish; it's easy to put your own spin on it. Prefer blue cheese to ranch? Go for it.

Red onions are nice, either fresh or grilled, and can take the place of green onions. You could even used my pickled red onions for a surprise flavor. You could use grilled firm tofu in place of the chicken; if you want a vegetarian or vegan dish, though, make sure to check the ingredients on everything you use.

    🍽 Equipment

You don't need much in the way of equipment either. A baking sheet to hold the flatbread, a bowl for mixing, and your oven is pretty much all you need! If you want the best presentation, you can also use squirt bottles for the extra Buffalo sauce and dressing, so you can more easily drizzle each one across the finished pizza.

    🥡 Storage

You could store any leftovers for the next day, but the bread may get a little soggy in the refrigerator. It's certainly better than throwing away perfectly good food, just don't make too much and plan to save it.

I haven't tried to freeze it, so your mileage may vary on that one.

    ❓ FAQ

Why is it called Buffalo chicken?

Buffalo wings are named for Buffalo, New York, where the flavors were originally created. The sauce consists of vinegar, hot pepper, and other spices.

Is Buffalo sauce hot or spicy?

When you order Buffalo wings at a restaurant, you can usually get them in a range from mild to very spicy. This recipe's heat will depend on the sauce you get. If you want to use a Buffalo sauce you've never tried before, you may want to taste it before you make the entire recipe with it.

    What is naan?

Naan is a flatbread that originated in Asia. If you've ever eaten at an Indian restaurant, you've probably tasted it. It's just a bread and doesn't tend to have other flavors, unless you specifically get a flavored one such as garlic naan.

    🦺 Food safety

The main thing to be concerned about with safety and health in this dish is the chicken. Make sure your chicken is thoroughly cooked before you put it on the flatbread. Chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit before it can be safely consumed.
